But the point here is not to discourage you from becoming a paramedic but to point out that these people are an essential part of our medical system and the sacrifices they are making are too often forgotten although their service was actually brought in when the state realized that you had a better chance to survive a severe wound in Vietnam than a severe accident on the highways of the Unites States precisely because the army was already employing paramedics back then while the government was not. So here’s hoping that one day the government will realize the invaluable help and the life that these people are actually saving and will increase the budget that goes to the paramedic salary.
